Oh. My. God.
Best idea I’ve ever found on the internet involving baking and food coloring. EVER. (NOTE: The recipe on the website was a “diet” cake. 1. I don’t do diet desserts. I like my cupcakes to go straight to my ass. There’s no point otherwise. 2. I suck at cakes. So I made cupcakes! YAY!)
I talked about these things for daaaaaays. And I will make them again, very soon.
RAINBOW CUPCAKES.
Hells yeah. Wanna make some? Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Mix up some white cake batter (from scratch, if you’re ambitious. Or from a box, if you’re AWESOME… like me.)
Step 2. Divide the batter into a bunch of little bowls and add enough food coloring to make them nice and bright. You can try using the number of drops it says on the box for a cake, and then divide it by however many bowls, but they didn’t seem bright enough. So we added like… oh… four times as much as they said. Ya know, whatever makes you happy.
You’ll end up with something like this.

Step 3: Get your cupcake stuff set up. Make your boyfriend stir some bowls.

Step 4: Spoon a small amount of batter into paper cup.

Step 5: Add a little more batter of a different color on top of it. (NOTE: Two colors seemed to work best, but you can do this however you want. Swirl it, stick a spoon in the middle to make a barrier to make the colors side by side… whatever you want. They’re your cupcakes.)

Step 6: Fill all of your cups, and get some sort of awesomeness such as this.

Step 7: Bake as directed by your recipe… or by Betty Crocker. Whichevs.
You’ll end up with something that looks like thiiiiiis!

YUM!!!
I frosted and sprinkled them the next day with Danny’s nephew. It was so great to choose a cupcake and not know what colors you were going to get when you bit into them!
So much fun!
